$20 MTT - Approaching FT but getting no cards (long HH)

[Nottom]

So I made a prety deep run into last night's 1:00 AM $20+2. After getting some good breaks and bouncing around I eventually find myself near the bottom after losing a coin flip.

My table was pretty condusive to stealing (or at least had been while I had chips) but I think some of the players were looking to take a stand against the most aggressive player at the table (me) and I felt I still had enouhg ships left that I didn't want to push with nothing, and yet not enough to really raise any less.

Anyway, I thought I would post the end of the tourney to see if anyone thinks I missed some good opportunities to pick up chips or if I jumped the gun with my push.

I'll post the HH in a reply to this post, with some thoughts about it here.

Some Player notes:
PSU was the main target for steals since chat indicated that making it this deep was huge for him. He was playing cautiously and my read was that he wasn't calling without a pair or big A.

Shakedown had been hanging on as a shortest stack for quite a while, maybe he was card dead but I was relentlessly raising his blinds when I had chips and he only stood up to me when he had TT.

These are the 2 players to my left and thus the prime steal targets

The other players at the table seemed pretty typical if not a little on the tight side which should be good for me.

In spite of being UTG I probably push #274 ... short handed, near the FT bubble pushing UTG can be perceived as a sign of strength ... it also depends of how your feel about sneaking onto the FT with a short stack ... I like to start out stronger.

Apart from that I don't seen any reasonable opportunities ... having waited that far I might let 94 pass - I'd rather push a hand with better chance of standing up - but if you're confident in your read on PSU of course it's mandatory.

Yeah, I seriously thought about pushing there and let it go as my time bank started ticking, because I though I'd find a better spot.

Looking back, I probably jumped the gun with the 94 push but as I said, my read on PSU was that he was kind of weak-tight at this point and was going to fold most of the time, but maybe I should still drop the bottom 10% of hands and push something a little better next hand or next orbit.

I like the read and the reasoning on PSU as the target, and you just got unlucky that he had a pair. That being said, if i've waited that long, and with the blinds a good bit off, I think I fold the 94 and wait for something with at least a straight possibility. I think I could actually hear you cry when you had to fold the 55 to the raise and all-in. That always hurts when you're cold decked and short stacked.

Do you think that the fact that it was almost 5am had anything to do with the push? I'm guessing you are EST since you said it was the 1am tourney. Fatigue may have caused that push a bit as well.

Honestly I wouldn't be surprised. Somewhere during all of this I had also made the final 3 tables of a 20/180 ... I had somewhere between 9-12 BBs and was holding A6s in LP. Without even thinking, I called a 3BB rasie from an EP player at a full table and didn't even realize I had done so until I was facing an all-in bet on the flop. Unfortunately I caught my 6 and BD flush, the board was ragged so I figured I had to call and ended up busting 27th to QQ becasue my mind just wasn't in the game.
