2/4 NL Buy-in Question
I have seen alot of people come to these tables and sit down with $80 and just buy back for another $80 over and over if they lose it. Whats the point and why are they doin it?

Gambling [/ QUOTE ] Yeah. They don't want to lose a lot, but they see all those relatively big stacks and think that they might get lucky and get a healthy chunk from them. Unfortunately - for them - they are ignorant of the fact that they probably lose in the long run, because all those rebuys eventually catch up. |

Re: 2/4 NL Buy-in Question
The point is to have fewer decisions. Many shorties are now decent, not great players who find weak tight full games. The shortie might have 20/15 type stats, and all in any time they raise. Its not always bad for the game, unless there are like 3 at a table. The key is to know their range and bust em.
One big advantage they have is the "shortstack squeeze play" aspect where, say 6 people limp, the shortie goes all in for 15bb, someone in EP with AsJs wants to call figuring hes ahead of shortie, and would instacall heads up, but fearing being whipsawed behind but saavy player hoping for this scenario. |

Re: 2/4 NL Buy-in Question
For the most part the short stacks are part of what makes the games good.
It's all about "getting some love from the shorties" |

Re: 2/4 NL Buy-in Question
I don't have a problem with short stacks that play poorly, but at 2/4 I see a lot more shorties that don't play horribly. Sometimes there will be 2-3 at a table. It means that I can no longer raise w/ anything except big aces, pairs and maybe KQ. If I raise w/ 89s and get called by a shortie my implied odds are gone. I just end up sitting there waiting for a big starting hand, and that is extremely boring.
