Bethedealer casino- Is being the dealer +EV?
I don't know if I should've posted in this forum or the math forum, move it if it doesn't belong. I remember hearing conflicting statements about whether or not being the dealer was +EV or
not. Can some one mathematically show me the EV of different "types" of BJ players. The house takes a 1.75% commision off all dealer wins. What is the EV... 1) gambler who is playing perfect BS (.5% HA) 2) gambler who plays near BS (1% HA) 3) from what I hear, the average BJ player (2% HA) 4) gambler on monkey tilt (around 5% HA) |

No, it isn't. The house takes a % of your "dealer" wins, which (I think) was significantly greater than your "house" advantage.

On some games it is slightly +EV. Just compare the HA to the commission.
BJ depends on how bad your opponents play. |

You also have to take into account the fact that in order to be the dealer you first have to play as the player in -EV games.

Re: Bethedealer casino- Is being the dealer +EV?
When I'm bored I like to watch people play blackjack on InterCasino. Or should I say lose money playing blackjack on InterCasino (I'm the same way at casinos, I like to watch people lose money; wierd that way I guess).
And although my sample size is small, barring the occasional player they all play their own way...which is pretty much wrong. Sometimes they'll split tens, double done a hard 13. Hit 11. Stand on 15 when dealer is showing a ten. Hit 15 when dealer is showing a 4. Heck I watched this one guy drop $20,000 betting $100 to $500 a hand in 15 minutes. If the people on bethedealer are like the players on InterCasino, I would think its definately +EV. Although, it will suck if the guy playing against you has a good run. |

Re: Bethedealer casino- Is being the dealer +EV?
I have seen a lot of bad BJ play at some internet casinos, but when I was playing as the dealer at BTD, about 70% of my opponents were playing perfect basic strategy. My sample size is pretty small, though.

Anyone know how much much the commission is so we can conclude some facts?

No offense to anyone in this thread, but still no one has proved mathematically whether or not it is +EV. I'm sure it is -EV if someone is playing perfect BS and im also quite sure that it is very +EV if the person is playing at a 5% HA. What I really want to know is, at what HA does it become +EV and to see that someone is gonna have to use math. |

In that case it is +EV If someone plays 1000 hands of $1 each then you as dealer would expect to receive roughly $5. The house would then charge you 1.75% and so your net gain should be roughly $4.91 |
