Foxwoods 2-5NL

How does this game play? Has anyone posted hands from this game in the forums recently that they could point me to? I've searched the recent Foxwoods threads ("first trip to Foxwoods in awhile...", "limit at foxwoods" and trip reports). If there's any information on the game or players that is more suitable for PM feel free.

I'm also interested in answers, particularly comparison/contrast between 1-2 and 2-5 from those who've made the switch.

(FWIW there was a $10-25 game going on behind our $1-2 on Sunday, and I saw what I inferred might be a rich fish paying off what looked like a flopped nut straight for $10k or so. Just one totally useless data point for the ambitious; I didn't watch enough to know how the play really was in that game.)

I think there are old threads on this precise topic, say 2-3 months old, but you'd have to do some serious digging to find them. Using Google search rather than Crappy Search would be essential to this enterprise.

I have about six hours of experience in this game. A friend of mine who I was with (who has more experience in that game) told me the table was playing tighter than usual that day (Sunday 10am-4pm).

That said, the game was pretty soft. There were a number of instances when players played for stacks with very marginal holdings (TPTK type hands), when players made ridiculously bad bluffs on the river, or when players checked in spots where there was much value to be extracted.

I got almost nothing to play with the entire time and finished +$650.

I've played in both a few times. I haven't found the competition to be drastically better in the 2-5, but IMO it plays better because of the larger max buy-in.

During last year's World Poker Finals the 2-5 was incredibly soft. I saw a couple of preflop AIs with hands like 9-9, 10-10 and A-Q for over $300, where it was clear the players were not thinking about what the other player had...

Let me also add, that there are a few good reads when searching the low & medium stakes forums. I think I ran a search for newer than 2 years, with foxwoods in the subject only and it turned up at least four readable threads.

Anyone know about regulars with specific tendencies? How would you describe a "typical" table? If it's dependent on time of day or week, state so.

My schedule between work and school is going to allow me to get down there every Friday & Saturday (then back home for the Pats on Sunday) until at least the new year.

that 10 25 no limit game is lit up on the weekends, I know one of the regulars there that donates big bucks,probably same person you were talking about as rich fish.

See, in the $1-2 TPTK isn't really that marginal! It's a real breadwinner, especially around the typical early-session stack size of $80-140. I routinely double or triple up with TPTK when I can't believe that people would keep calling me with less. But hey, gotta chase those flushes -- no sense going to the casino if you're not going to gamble, right?

But I do understand that the play won't be this soft moving up in stakes, and that I will need to play TPTK with more care (as I might in say a Full Tilt 50c-$1 game).

My experience has been that it is a little tighter pre-flop. Post-flop, it is pretty much the same as the 1-2, pretty bad. In general, there may be 1-2 better players that you have to play carefully against. Some players in this game are a little more positionally aware as well.

We were at the back of the tourney area, almost against the wall before it opens out into the stud/low-limit area, yes?

You weren't the golfer from UConn were you? Which seat were you in? (I assume you mean that you were playing in the $1-2 game; I don't even think there is a max buyin in the $10-25 game.)
