I am always amazed by the amount of responses an OOT thread can generate in mere seconds. I have recieved several good reccomendations so far: wolfmother, white stripes, CCR. However, I think some of the recommendations I am getting are too slow for me.

I will check this thread in the morning, and go pick up an album or two tomorrow. I plan to go to Amoeba and Rasputin this weekend though, so I shouldn't spend too much tomorrow.

A Euro rock group named Savatage use a piano. They are pretty good.

Well there are quite a few Beatles songs of course. You might wanna check out this site http://www.pandora.com, you tell it songs that you like and it plays ones similar to it, the more you use it the better it is supposed to be at knowing your tastes.

one keyboard player who is largely unknown by us younger folks is Leon Russell.

Its hard to classify him into a genre, since he is so versitile.

He started out with the likes of Jerry Lee, did sessions with the Byrds, the Stones, Eric Clapton, Bob Dylan, and then in the late 70's early 80's went country, touring with Willie Nelson. I believe at one time he was touring with Miles Davis as well.

If you were to check out one of his solo albums, I'd suggest Will 'O the Wisp.

I saw him live at the Whisky a Go-go a few months back and he was great.

I always thought they were a US band, start with the Gutter Ballet album.

Wolfmother's album is pretty good has a very Led Zeppelin feel to it in parts.

Blue Oyster Cult - Joan Crawford Has Risen From the Grave
Nice piano intro and verse.

Also, two greatest of them all:
Mötley Crüe - Home, Sweet Home
Van Halen - Jump

I hear Billy Preston was a great rock pianist, worked with the Beatles, etc. Look him up.
