Why is this standard? Could somebody explain? I would like a turn raise because I think you are pretty much ahead.

Why is this standard? Could somebody explain? I would like a turn raise because I think you are pretty much ahead. [/ QUOTE ] Well, we run the risk of: 1) Him correctly folding hands he would have bet the river with. 2) Getting 3-bet, which we have to call since we have a flush draw. Without the flush draw I would like raising the turn more, but still not enough to make raising my choice. If he really is aggressive, I want him to do the betting so we aren't put in a difficult situation, and even if we are ahead I don't think we will make that much more by raising the turn as we will by calling down. |

[/ QUOTE ] So without the fd you like a raise/fold on the turn? [/ QUOTE ] Well not necessarily, as I said, I like it more without the flush draw but maybe not enough to make it a better play than calling down. This is of course dependant on the villain in question. If I can 100% safely fold to a 3-bet then it's a good option, if I cannot safely fold without an agonizing pain in my head, I still prefer calling down. And again, calling down may still be the best choice even in that case if he will continue betting his hands unimproved on the river, as many of these aggros do, instead of making him correctly fold them after we raise the turn. So yeah, as my default line against aggressive players in general, I prefer calling down in these situations, with or without the flush draw. I want a better or more specific read before I raise. |
