$22 Horrible call with AK on bubble?
I'm still kicking myself over this play on the bubble. Is it a totally horrible call on my part? Villian is aggressive and seems fairly solid. (Results in white)

I think the error here was not pushing preflop.

Re: $22 Horrible call with AK on bubble?
With AK you want him to fold preflop here. You should push. I don't like a re-raise that isn't a push. You're committing yourself to the hand with any raise so you might as well push & give yourself the most fold equity you can get. Also, I don't think you're far enough ahead of shorty to consider anything other than a push here. If you have a good read on him (PFR% & how many hands he'll call a push w/) you could figure it out w/ an ICM problem if you want to make sure.

Re: $22 Horrible call with AK on bubble?
It depends on you read of him, he has to be raising pretty loosely to make a shove here profitable. The re-raise less than all-in is just crap, don't do that.

Re: $22 Horrible call with AK on bubble?
I would hear comments of this play.
You are on bubble and you got position against big stack. How about just calling with AK? If A flops you are only scared of AA, if K flops you are only scared of AA and KK. And if neither comes and villain raises you fold. Costs you 600 but this will still keep you abotu equal to two other stacks. |

Re: $22 Horrible call with AK on bubble?
A call is okay if you think he's either:
a) tight (and therefore his hand range is so that he won't fold to your re-push) b) not very tight, but loves to look people up (ditto on the won't fold part) c) just a poor player post-flop and you feel comfortable with having a big chunk of your stack in the middle. It won't be a very easy flop to play though, you can't really just go by if an A or K flops either. It would be a tough situation, best avoided most of the time - you want decisions to be simple where possible in an SNG. |

Re: $22 Horrible call with AK on bubble?
I'm not sure, I think a fold is marginally better than a call, even with AK, in this specific situation. It's just going to end up in a crappy post flop position whatever you do, even though you are in position. I'm not sure it's worth it, to be honest.
