Default 200th Post, My Short Term Goals...

In no specific order:

1. Keep posting and reading these forums (2+2 has been a tremendous asset to my game)

2. Play between 20-30 hours of poker a week (school inhibits my ability to play MUCH more)

3. Be playing 2/4 by December (kind of a stretch, but I like a challenge)

4. Read and reread the books that helped improve my game (you know what they are)

5. Keeping a positive attitude about poker, not playing outside my bankroll and work on being more patient

This forum really opened my eyes to the poker world. I thought I knew a good deal about poker before I found this forum, was I ever wrong. I have learned a great deal since then and still feel that I have a TON to learn.

I learned the hard way that step 3 is not one to put in the books.

When I was young I loved to play golf and was good at it, I had a natural talent. I worked at a golf course and the two professionals there both told me if I practiced I had great potential.

I never practiced, I preferred to play and they both got angry with me, eventually banning me from playing until I put my practice time in.

I didn't learn soon enough that they were right and that my game would have been much better if I practiced.

Poker is a sport which can be practiced so try and think of ways to go out and practice and do it.

If you are on a tight time management schedule then you will be much more successful in the long run by testing theories, working on reads, calculating odds than you can ever get by just sitting at the table hoping to win enough money to bankroll your next level.

I wouldn't say poker is a sport, but I would say poker takes practice. I am going to put the time and effort in to improve my game. I do believe that I will be playing 2/4 by December, hey it's something to shoot for.

BTW, I have similar experiences in golf. If you're ever in NJ let me know, we can play 18.
