Default Value bet my AK on the River?

My main question here is about my river play. Might be extremely standard, might quite bad. Just trying to readjust to NL after playing limit for so long. Turn might be questionable as well, but I really want to focus on the river. No reads on villian. Like I said, I just switched from limit, so I'm still in the "must value bet" mindset. Two questions:
1. Was I correct to bet the river? It seemed right at the time, he wouldn't check a better hand and might call with a lower pair... I think.
2. Was I correct to call his river C/R? Based on the post size and the size of the bet it seemed like I needed to call it at the time. Later on I was left wondering what the hell I would beat here. Surely the K on the river would be a scare card if he had a lower pair and it seems likely an ugly river to try and pull a tricky bluff on. But the pot odds! I just don't know.

Yeah, I think you have to bet the river. Also the checkraise on the river is scary. You are getting more than 4 to 1 on the call on the end, so I would call as well. You never know what ppl are thinking sometimes in low stakes NL holdem.

With a read i like betting this turn a lot because the flop is drawy and we can rep an overpair. As played bet river, call c/r. WTF does he have and why would he be so sure you're betting?
