Name that planet....
So it looks like there will be three extra planets agreed.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/sci/tech/4795755.stm These are 1. Ceres- a large round asteroid 2. UB313, nicknamed "Xena"- a round object in the Kuiper belt larger than pluto 3. Charon, currently thought of as the moon of Pluto. WTF? Ceres is a [censored] asteroid and Charon might (or might not) be a moon. Oh well. More importantly UB313 is a sucky name. OOT can do better. The rules are 1. The name must be mythological. So no calling it Donald. 2. The name should be somehow appropriate to a froven lump of ice and rock in outer space that sometime comes close to the sun. (Pluto is the Roman god of the underworld and an very odd name for a dog, and Charon is the greek ferryman of the dead). So OOT, name that planet....

LOUHI...
In Finnish mythology, Louhi was a magic-working ice giantess, Princess of Pohjola. When suitors came to marry her daughter, she set them impossible tasks and if these tasks were overcome she had her army of frost giants kill them.

I dont know, I like the sound of UB313. It'll keep the kids on their toes in astronomy lessons.

I didn't find it in your article but today I read in the newspaper that in addition to the mentioned definition of "planet" based on gravity the object may not be a moon, which according to the "gravity-principle" means that a moon is an object where the gravitational center (or what ever you call the point the two objects rotate around) must be inside the planet for the other object to be considered a moon. As Pluto and Charon each rotate around a point outside of Pluto they are some kind of "double-planet system"

It's not a planet its in the [censored] asteroid belt. Repeat. Asteroid belt. Just because it's large and spherical doesn't make it planetary. With millions of asteroids adrift, odds are that at least one will be nearly spherical
