Her: Alright well im going to take the elevator now

Me: Well I have a funny question to ask..

As she steps into the elevator understanding somethings up (shes trying to escape!)

Me: So if I asked you out on a date would that be a positive or negative expectation value?

Her: What!? Oh my god your my student!

Me: Roflz, But still! would it be positive or negative?

Her: Very negative.... (elevator closes)

You should have said "If I ask you out after the term is over.." There's all sorts of policies that would frown upon a professor (or even assistant) dating a current student.

Give her that out, you might get a more encouraging answer.
