Default 4/180 I think he is re-stealing...

Level 100/200 with antes

Me: around 7600 in LMP
He: around 9000 in SB

I have open-raised the last 2 hands (88 and AKo) and gotten the blinds

Dealt to me A9o.
Table is ultra-tight so this is a non-brainer. I make it 600.

My "read" or impression rather, of the other guy is that he is pretty decent and has taken down pots with good bets rather than showing down.

I noticed on my second open raise that he thought long and I thought he was going to play back at me from the button.

He tanks and then pops it to 2000. I think he is capable of re-raising me with next to nothing here. If it were anyone else at the table this were an easy fold but with him I am not 100% sure.

I am not keen on playing A9o postflop. I am either folding or re-raising allin.

Thoughts?

How many people are left? The concept of restealing is lost on many 4/180 players, so I'd take it with a grain of salt. I know you read the table as ultra tight, but if I've just stolen twice, I'm much more likely to fold a hand like A9o when the odds are really increased that people are going to play back at me.

In short, I can't imagine pushing all-in here being a +EV play. Make a note about the possible resteal and go from there. Hope he does it again when you have a real hand.

uh, no, if you think he's restealing, then it's the perfect time to push it all in.

Do you have any reason to think he's restealing other than the fact that this is your third raise in a row?

I agree with this, but it seems like whenever I'm convinced someone is restealing at a 4/180, they have a real hand and I feel dumb.

Good point.

Other than a feeling that he has been floating before I'll have to say no. It's just a general feeling from the pots he has taken down that he is more tricky than ABC.

edit: and I have shown down one or two less than premium hands

If I'm "stealing" third time in a row - I like to have a hand that doesn't afraid to be re-raised... Keeps me out of spots like this.

I think re-resteal takes a LOT of a read because it's like one of the MOST expensive moves EVAH... A9o doesn't play too well when called, and your push will be offering him 2:1 on his call.

I fold and steal some more next time.

"I like to have a hand that doesn't afraid to be re-raised... "

you just crippled the english speaking portion of my brain. Jesus, that is TERRIBLE.

as for the hand, i think you should try and assign a range to the villain. think he repops with 22-1010? Ax+?

I agree that is all in or fold. I would probably push here, but i am a donkey so.....

He could be restealing, but in a $4 tournament, I would give his reraise more credit. I assume this is close to the bubble with tight play. If you fold, it may be harder to steal in the future.

Problem is, when you keep raising, isn't it possible someone behind you has a hand. Now A9o is dominated by any legitimate reraising hand. With 88 or AK, there is an excellent chance for a race if called and it is possible you dominate. A9o is not much better than A2o to push with.

Yeah. I have yet to see someone fold to a third bet in a 4/180

Well, if I am wrong and he doesn't have like 86s or something A9 is still a flip against mid PP:s but yes I get your point.

edit: Ah, I think I am perhaps pushing the envelope on trying to add reads to my game ..idk... this seemed an interesting hand from that viewpoint anyway.
