Re: 100r hand against Bax.
[ QUOTE ]
If all you rate to make on the river is a single miniraise I don't think that justifies slowplaying the turn. If you were setting up a win of his whole stack, awesome, but since you're not I just raise the turn. After all, he doesn't have to automatically give you credit for the flush. [/ QUOTE ] I agree. Your risk here was not worth the reward. You wanted to get paid more than his turn investment and in doing so, you risked getting sucked out on (a river [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] or the board pairing). Meanwhile you only got a minraise more for your troubles. I think most people raise the turn for three reasons here. 1) They want to build this pot up so they can get it all in on the river. 2) They do not want to risk seeing a [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] hit the river or the board pairing, killing their action or even worse losing the pot all together. 3) They feel a bet here will disguise their hand just as much as a call. This ofcourse will only happen if you are able to make that play without the flush consistantly. Obviously you are, which would make even more sense that you raise the turn here. Bax could not narrow your range to strictly a flush and if you say he pays off too much then you have him in an extrodinary spot. |

Re: 100r hand against Bax.
exactly what fnurt said. if calling the turn doesnt let you make more than that on the river it has to be a bad play.

Re: 100r hand against Bax.
If Bax has played with you a decent amount and knows you are semi-reckless/loose or whatever, doesn't it make sense to raise the turn?
If you raised the turn against me in that pot I wouldn't assume you had a flush. There is really no reason to play the flush that way. The scare card came on the turn and bax is still betting into you. He likes his hand. Even if he does fold the turn, I think the percentage of the time in which you extract from him on the turn is much greater than if you do it on the river. Brad |

You're you, he's him. Build the pot on the turn.

Re: 100r hand against Bax.
gobbo,
what do you think he has? of those hands which will fold to a turn raise? if you call what do you do if the river pairs the board? if you call and he checks how much do youy bet? I think when you think about these questions calling the turn is awful. |

Re: 100r hand against Bax.
Since he keeps leading, even when the spade hits, im thinking he likes his hand so you should raise and get value for it. Bad things can happen on the river, board pairs or another spade hits. If board pairs on the river and he leads huge into you, what do u do then? Or what if 4th spade hits and he leads huge into you too?

Re: 100r hand against Bax.
It looks like he has three 9's. So I would probably raise the river at least 3x. Call on the turn isn't bad, but I probably raise a lot on the river.

Gobbo,
Since you obviously could have had my entire stack here, I think you played it terribly. Also, I think your assessment of my tourney donk-itis is incorrect, but we are all entitled to our opinions. Bax |
