Re: Hurray for Playing Big Pots with 1 Pair
i guess we have had different experiences. the reason i replied is because when i first moved back to nl i was losing a lot due to that logic. 'my range is normally so wide here that there's no way i can't push my overpair here since it would be so profitable for them to do it w/ anything if i'm folding even my top percentile hand. oh, set'.
the counter arguement being maybe my style appears less aggressive but i doubt it's that. it's probably variance, so averaging it's 2:1 in favour of push. also, having just basic stats or reads helps a lot in fine tuning who you have to call/push here. |

[/ QUOTE ] yeah not saying that doesn't happen to me quite a lot. but definitely with the odds in this hand on this board (just saw results, and these boards make mid pairs convince themselves they are gold, despite any action in the hand to the contrary), i'd be pushing in a heartbeat. sometimes it is a set or a higher overpair but in my experience it is usually not. but the frequency of what you see is probably different for everyone, obviously. it would be cool if there were some way with pokertracker you could categorize all hands with more than one raise preflop to analyze them discretely. |

Had this been 3-handed it would have been very different, but given this is 6-handed, this is a very easy fold unless he's getting out of line, and he wasn't. [/ QUOTE ] Maybe I'm missing something, but in the OP it is said that it was folded to the button who opened. This is 3-handed. The fact that there are 6 players at the table should mean nothing if the 3 players involved understand this and act according to this. |

folded on BN != 3-handed [/ QUOTE ] OK there are reasons to think that this is not *exactly* 3-handed, however, I can't see how it is "very different" from 3-handed like MDMA said. |

Re: Hurray for Playing Big Pots with 1 Pair
I think you need to fold this. Against a very tricky or very bad (ie overplaying) opponent, you can maybe call but you have to fold to any further heat. I really think you should fold now though.
