Foxwoods 5/10 w kill
Anyone play the 5/10w kill at foxwoods? I'm thinking of going down next week, probably mon. or tues. I've only played the 1/2 and 2/5 NL, and would like to try playing limit. What would be a good buy in for the 5/10 game? how much different from 4/8 in terms of skill level? And does anyone know what they spread for low limit Omaha and O/8, and if those games are any good? Any help is appreciated. -NB

Re: Foxwoods 5/10 w kill
I have never played the 5/10 kill, but I hear it can be good or a nit-filled desert.
The O8 is 4/8 and is usually a good game. |

Re: Foxwoods 5/10 w kill
the legends of the 5/10 nitfest are greatly exaggerated. there are usually 3-5 tables, if you happen upon a tight game you can usually get a table change within 10-20 mins, and there's a very very good chance that one will be good.
the only O8 game regularly run is 4/8 w/ a half kill. the wait for this game can be very very long, there's usually only one table. |

Re: Foxwoods 5/10 w kill
buy in for 2-300 at 5-10 with another 2 in pocket. there is usually little difference in skill between 4-8 and 5-10. just scout out different tables if yours is no good. keep in mind that 5-10 plays with a kill and if you get involved in a few kill rounds and lose and then the game goes back to 5-10 it can be very frustrating. (however, the reverse may also happen).
the 4-8 o/8 with half kill almost always goes in the morning. get there early to play that. that game can be good or terrible and rocky. there are a couple of regulars in that game who are very very good and if they're in it it may not be worth plating. |

Re: Foxwoods 5/10 w kill
The 5-10 is always a complete ____________ either lagfest or nitfest, I've never seen it like a normal game with 4-6 players in for one bet to the flop.
The 4-8 is tons of action. |

Re: Foxwoods 5/10 w kill
There've been past threads about it, maybe 3 months ago or so. In light of the chaos that is trying to find anything in past threads here, good luck.
The one time I played the 5/10 I was somewhat surprised at how little impact the kill made. They'd play several hands of 5/10, invoke the kill, someone would make a steal raise at 10/20 and everyone would fold, and we'd be back to 5/10. It's really absurd to offer both 4 and 5 (with the latter comping at twice the rate!). They should move this game to 6/12, 7.50/15, 8/16 or something -- but hey, everyone loves their kill game, so apparently it ain't changing. |

4-8 with a full kill would work but nobody making $80,000+ annual is smart enough to figure that out.

Re: Foxwoods 5/10 w kill
Why do people love the kill so much anyway? Is it the idea that they could win a huge pot without having to risk that much money on every hand?
Seems to me like, if you want to play $10/20, you should go find a $10/20 game, but then I obviously don't get the allure of the kill. |

Doubling the stakes for a hand or two adds a little spice to the game. Plus, using your example you might not be rolled for a 20/40 but playing a couple hands of it is doable and fun. |

"if you want to play $10/20, you should go find a $10/20 game"
it's doesn't really play like a 10/20 though, just somewhere in between. it also encourages rushes -- you are more likely to win two hands in a row in a kill game. it adds a new element to the game and just mixes things up. |
