I try to semi-bluff...
Villain here is pretty aggro. He has been limping a lot with stuff like 44 and A8o from UTG, but has been connecting a lot. He is also not afraid to cap the flop on a OESD or FD. He is 40/20/3.67 after 50 hands...
2/4 6 max Hero is in BB with 2 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]A [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] folded to Villain in SB, who raises. Hero calls. Flop 3 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]4 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]T [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (4 SB) Villain bets, hero calls. Turn 6 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (3 BB) Villain bets, hero raises... I rarely semi-bluff raise. Now that I look back on it, I would have preferred a more scary card. Is this not a good spot to try this? A bad villain to try it against? Also, two pf spots: Hero is in SB with 55. Folded to CO (33/22/3) who has raised A4s UTG. Button folds, hero... Hero is MP with 55. UTG folds. Two semi loose players are CO & BTN. Average blinds. Hero... |

Re: I try to semi-bluff...
I think this would be a fine spot against some aggressive players, but not against a maniac. He might just 3-bet for no reason. I don't get into betting wars with maniacs myself. I'd probably just call this down actually unless you've seen him give up when he actually doesn't have a pair. From his stats though this doesn't seem likely.

Re: I try to semi-bluff...
This raise is for value and you'll sometimes knock out a better Ace high. It also acts as a free shodown raise, I wouldn't advise following through on a blank river.

This one is against a SB raiser which will have a wider range than the CO raiser in Leader's post. Also, we're OOP with frequently the best hand while we're usually behind in Leader's hand. |

Re: I try to semi-bluff...
I was thinking free showdown raise as well, but he just seems too wild and I would rather call call for the same amount in this case.

[/ QUOTE ] I was thinking mostly along these lines. I felt like *maybe* A high was good, and if not, I had a bunch of outs. I thought spending two bets here might generate some fold equity from villain, which made it more attractive than also spending two bets going call call. Also, there is no guaruntee villain will bet or call on the river if a fourth heart hits. Another question is, if we had just called the turn, do we call the river UI? Here's how the hand went: Turn 3 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]4 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]T [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]6 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (3BB) Villain bets, Hero raises, Villain 3bets, Hero calls.
