Don't know if this is the right forum for this, but here goes:
Recently I graduated college and started working a nine to five office job. The job has days of intense work and days of total idleness. I spent all of the past week sitting around cruising 2p2 for 8 hrs a day. I want to be able to use this time to play poker. Because I have my own office with door, I can do this with no one noticing. However, I am concerned about 1. installing software, and 2. having my network traffic traced. Are these legitimate concerns? If so, are there ways around them? |

Obviously, its not the best idea since you'll probably get fired if you get caught. If you work for a major corporation, then its most likely that the company's firewall wont allow you to connect through the net and play anyway (the IT department will know when you try, and will probably know what youre trying to do based on the port you use).
However, if you must play and your screen isnt facing any windows, bring your own laptop to work and get a verizon or sprint internet card and use your own connection to play. As long as you have cell phone reception, you should have a good internet connection too. |

I used to play at work, but it was a small company. I was the IT guy, my boss played poker at work and didn't mind if I did.

Using a laptop w/ wireless card is by far the safest route.
If you MUST use the company's machine, leave your computer on at home, then connect through SSH to your machine. They won't be able to trace anything. Some popular clients that support encryption are VNC, Radmin, and more. That said, reasons to NOT play poker during the day: (1) easily get fired from job if caught (2) daytime play is much tougher - you don't get as many fish. I believe someone posted some stats on here before that showed their winrate was about 1/2 what it was at night Have fun! |

[/ QUOTE ] In all seriousness, if work is slow, find some way to make your business's operations better or improve yourself as a valued asset. Starting down the road of playing poker at work on your first real post-college job doesn't make you cool and won't be good for you in the long run. |

Morality aside, you WILL find yourself in a situation where you have the stone cold nuts against a donator, and you are heavily invested in the pot just as someone pops in your office, and scoots around your side of the desk and tries to show you something. The best you can hope for is to be regarded as a someone who surfs nasty porn sites a lot, as you furiously shut down windows and pop-ups.
