Hmmm
Party Poker
Pot Limit Omaha Ring game Blinds: $5/$10 9 players Converter Stack sizes: UTG: $782.50 UTG+1: $798.50 MP1: $726.39 MP2: $626 MP3: $449.92 CO: $965 Jay: $1427.50 SB: $1500 BB: $2097.36 Pre-flop: (9 players) Jay is Button with 7[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] T[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 8[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] T[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] UTG calls, UTG+1 folds, MP1 calls, 3 folds, Jay calls, SB calls, BB checks. Flop: Q[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 6[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] T[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] ($50, 5 players) SB bets $47.5, BB calls, 2 folds, Jay HU i would usually wait until the turn, since a lot changes in my equity, if i'm good on the flop it's probably slight and if he throws it in that just becomes a waste of what could have been great equity. But this doesn't seem like it's true when it's 3 way since they are probably sharing outs which nicely ups my equity here, though i think if i call and a blank hits if SB has a big draw he will bomb the turn again, yet one of them will probably escape to my raise. Hm hm close. So which do you prefer? |

Re: Hmmm
There aren't many safe cards in the deck, only those non-diamond ones below 6. And you need to find out if you are crushed by QQ, so I would raise it on the flop.

Re: Hmmm
More questions! So if i jack it and he shoves i'm folding? Wouldn't this push usually be AhKhJx?

Re: Hmmm
Yes I would fold to a raise versus a non-lag player because his range is QQ or a big equity draw and you have little defense and no real draws since a 9 probably screws you.

Re: Hmmm
Jay, I really like your thinking on turn raises with sets. I've been caught out by it a couple of times playing live.
One of the many benefits is it helps avoid those terrible situations where u have a third of your stack in the middle, and a semi scare card falls. It also gets people (me) to totally overplay top two, and as u say, gives u much better equity against solid draws. However, I dont think this is a good spot for it. I'd pump it up and call a push. I think your hand and the situation justifies getting stacked by QQ. If he had a bare qq, u might even spike him with one of your 5 outs if it goes heads up. |
