I like both those songs as well, and I was tempted to include Cowboy Dan as well. A couple of songs on "Building Nothing Out of Something" I don't know the title of but are awesome IMO. Come on though, none of the songs i listed? Those are the cream baby!! [/ QUOTE ] That wasn't really a reflection on the quality of your selections, more of a comment about how many awesome but less well known songs they have. |

I think some of Weezer's best songs are songs that most people have never heard. Just to name a few:
You Gave Your Love to me Softly I Just Threw out the Love of my Dreams Jaime Longtime Sunshine |

I'm not a huge Nickelback fan but they have a pretty good song called Rockstar, I don't think its been released, first time I heard it was here http://www.myspace.com/nickelback [/ QUOTE ] No offense, but this song is....(how do I let him down easy)...bad. I thought that I used to like them. Then I realized that I pretty much just liked "How You Remind Me". And yes, most of their lyrics are horrible. Who thought "I love the white stains on your dress" would be a great lyric for a radio song? Back on topic: Matchbox20: Busted. It's the only one on that first album that sounds different than all the rest, and I'm pretty sure most fans of their probably hated it. |

A few hip-hop ones:
Kanye: "Home" and the original version of "Hey Momma" > his singles (which I tend to think are very good. Pharcyde: There's a track called "The Rubber Song" off of aids benefit comp called Red Hot and Cool that's probably the best song they recorded. Jay-Z: "Dear Summer" which was hidden on a recent Memphis Bleek album is better than almost all his singles. |

Diablo:
I was always under the impression that Denial Twist was pretty well known. I know they made a video for the song that got a lot of airplay (Conan O'Brien was in it) My choices: Beck - Tropicalia Bob Dylan - The Lonesome Death of Hattie Carroll Jack Johnson - Traffic in the Sky (not sure if this is popular) The Shins - Saint Simon Sublime - Garden Grove Grateful Dead - a million songs |

"Mayonaise" by Smashing Pumpkins was going to be one of my nominations, but someone beat me to it.
Soundgarden is my favorite band, and they are known for "Black Hole Sun." I like nearly every song on Superunknown and Badmotorfinger better than Black Hole Sun. My favorite song of there's is "The Day I Tried to Live" but people might know that one, too. My second favorite, off of Badmotorfinger, is "Drawing Flies." I'm not sure what Pearl Jam is known for, but I'm pretty sure it isn't "Immortality," which is my favorite track of theirs. I'm also a huge fan of a song they do called "Crazy Mary." This might be something of a stretch, but I think Danzig is known fairly well for the song "Mother." I prefer "Devil's Plaything." A few people have nominated Lynyrd Skynyrd songs. I'd throw "The Ballad of Curtis Loew" into the mix, if that's not too well know. I've also always been partial to "Mississippi Kid." -McGee |

I'm going to un-cool this thread.
I really liked the last song on the B-side of the "Business As Usual" record by Men At Work. It was called "Down By The Sea", and was a lazy 7 minutes or so (rare for 80s pop) featuring mostly bass and saxophone. I wasn't an ardent radio listener, but regardless I never heard it on the radio once. Good song, though, really! |

Oh and-
Most of you know Faith No More from those two songs you saw on MTV- a little number called "everything else they've ever done" is better than those two songs. |
