Default Help me expand my indie collection.

Up until this year, I listened to exclusively classic rock. However, posts in OOT by CMI, JoA, ect. lead me to bands I hadn’t heard of, like Spoon, Sufjan, ect. Since then, I’ve begun listening to more indie stuff, but I’m curious as to what I’m missing. Here’s the complete albums I currently have and enjoy, so offer your suggestions as to what I’m missing/what you think I’d enjoy.

Arcade Fire – Funeral
Beck – Sea Change, Odelay
Belle & Sebastien – The Life Pursuit
Bright Eyes – I’m Wide Awake…
CYHSY – CYHSY
Death Cab – Plans
Decemberists – Picaresque
Elliot Smith – XO, Either/Or, from a basement…, Figure 8
Flaming Lips – Soft Bulletin, Yoshimi
The Go! Team – Thunder, Lightning, Strike
Iron & Wine – Our Endless Numbered Days
Jeff Buckley – Grace
My Morning Jacket – Z
Neko Case – Fox Confessor…
NMH – ITAOTS
New Pornographers – Twin Cinema, Electric Version
Radiohead – Kid A, OK Computer
Rilo Kiley – More Adventerous, Execution of All Things
Shins – Chutes too Narrow, Oh Inverted World
Sigur Ros – Agaetis Byrjun
Spoon – Kill the Moonlight, Gimme Fiction
Sufjan Stevens – Illinois
Weezer – Pinkerton
White Stripes – GBMS, Elephant
Wilco – Yankee Hotel Foxtrot

I know it’s a small list, but I’m new to this stuff. Thanks everyone.

Sebadoh. And while they're not really "indy" anymore, your list would seem to except them, so Built to Spill. And old Modest Mouse (new is good too).

in OOT I made a complete list of everybodies favorite albums from 96 to 06 in JOA's thread. it's not all indie, but there is some good stuff.

looking at what you listen too, there are some very good albums by your bands that you don't own

a couple Radiohead albums, Belle and Sebastian, etc. and there are 3 excellent Modest Mouse albums you should buy.

also don't restrict yourself to just new indie rock. a lot of this stuff is derivative of cool older stuff like Joy Division, The Smiths, The Pixies, etc

The latest Flaming Lips album, At War with the Mystics, is quite good.

As for artists you are missing, check out Mars Volta and their previous incarnation, At the Drive-In. Also, the poster boys for indie rock, Ween.

I've been getting into the indie stuff coming out of Toronto lately. Artists like Broken Social Scene, Stars, and Feist make some very good indie pop/rock.

If you are into post rock (i.e. mostly instrumental, neo-classical stuff), many of the same musicians of the above groups also perform in groups like Godspeed You! Black Emperor, A Silver Mt. Zion, Do Make Say Think, and Valley of the Giants.

The Bends by Radiohead is an absolute must.

I'm not sure how indie these are, but you seemingly like similar music to me (I, too, made the classic rock to indie transition), and the following are awesome:

Hot Hot Heat- Elevator
Snow Patrol- Final Straw, Eyes Open

I'm also a huge fan of Beck's latest CD, "Guero"

Also, here are some more emo indie things that I listen to

Jack's Mannequin's myspace
Something Corporate's myspace

There' an indie rock compilation I posted on rapidshare linked in the OOT Top 25 Albums thread, should still be there. Some older indie rock there that I would consider essential.
