I don't know I'm a little glad he didn't win. Why? cause most people are calling this event the "loser's bracket" Seriously helmuth winning his 10th in a $1000+R event really isn't the same as Johnny or Doyle's 10th IMHO. Now it's way way more than I've ever done. But in Phil's mind, a win here confirms that he is the greatest poker player in the world. And I'm pretty sure this field wasn't as tough as it could be. Anyone have a list of competitors?

Straight Flushes,

SAM

Interestingly enough, on the circuit Phil said that last year he was upset to learn that these events were bracelet events. He said this year he's adjusted to the idea and is glad that they are bracelet events.

He also called them cheap bracelets.

I'm sick of all this "cheap bracelet" talk. Just because every pro doesn't play in one given tournament, that doesn't take anything away from the victory. What if Phil won the main event without ever being at the same table as another 'top pro'? He should be ashamed of himself, that's what. Come on.

He is now second in the 2006 player of the year leaderboard and he has won the 2006 WSOP Leaderboard.

Events 41 and 42 for certain are new bracelet events for 2006. Don't know about the others.

I don't know that I would call them cheap bracelets. Event 41 had more entries than Moneymaker's main event. The later ones had fewer, but still up there on par with some of the other events.
