Figured id throw this out there.. legal gambling age in Canada is 19.. not 18. Therefore you are lucky they arent confiscating your funds for playing underage in the location you are from.

Players at the casino (referring to online fortune lounge casino, not a casino in Vegas) must be over the legal age of majority, meaning that the player must be an adult with full contractual capacity or a "major" as that term is legally defined in the country in which the player is resident.

[/ QUOTE ]

More importantly, if the t&c actually states it as "the age of majority". to the best of my knowledge that age in Canada is 19.

It is legal at 18 in Canada. You cannot go to casinos because they serve alcohol, which is illegal until you are 19. It is legal to play over the internet at 18 in Canada.

Look at it from their point of view too, they can't really send you to Vegas if it's not legal there. In my opinion the best solution would be to ask for cash value of the prize (flights & accom) at least, then you can go if you want to, minus the tourny unfortunately.

This would be a good compromise I think.

[/ QUOTE ]
They won't tell me the full cash value. Nor will they give me anywhere close to it at the moment. They're somehow making it my fault rather than owning up to their own negligence.

[/ QUOTE ]

Well it is mostly your fault.

[/ QUOTE ]

Actually, it's mostly his parents' fault. If dear ol' Dad had laid some pipe with his mom a few years earlier, we wouldn't be having this discussion right now.

I also say you can't go. And as I am the King, my decision is without contestation.

From the Government of Canada website (http://www.international.gc.ca/canad...ajority-en.asp):
Age of majority is 18 in Alberta, Ontario, Manitoba, Quebec, Saskatchewan, Prince Edward Island.

Age of majority is 19 in British Columbia, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Yukon, Nunavut, Newfoundland & Labrador, Northwest Territories.

So, depending on which province you live in depends on the age of majority. As for gambling, here in Ontario it is perfectly LEGAL for an 18 year old to gamble (ie. play bingo, buy lottery tickets, etc.) However, as previously stated, they are not permitted in Casinos as alcohol is served on the premises.

isnt the tournament entry worth 2k? say 500 - 1000 bucks for air and room you should get about 3000 minus a 500 dollar idiot fee. so try and get 2500.

[/ QUOTE ]

Is travel really that cheap in N.America?

For me 3500 USD seams more fair (2k entry + 2k travel - 500 = 3500$).

Just because I was curious (choosing 8/23 to 8/29 just to be random):

1 person round-trip:
Toronto to Las Vegas - $338
Vancouver to LV - $385
Ottawa to LV - $437

(consider that he is travelling with his brother though)

Helsinki to LV - $1001
Helsinki to Paris - $421
Helsinki to Berlin - $308
Helsinki to Rome - $364

Prices to fly in N.A. or Europe look somewhat similar to me (sample-size)

Those prizes do seem to be in the same general ballbark.

I'm not sure if i remember it correckly, but i think that OP was supposed to get 2 first class tickets. I dont think that those prizes are for first class?

Well anyways, even with those prizes getting 2k for the air and hotel is way closer to real value than 500 - 1000 USD.

Bob, i have been plannig on visiting Berlin for some time now; Where did you find tickets for $308? That seems like a good prize for a roundtip.
