Default WSOP 1K - Line Check

This is a hand that a friend of mine send me. He didn't like my answer, so I told him I'd post it here to get some more opinions-

WSOP Event #40, $1000 Buy-in NLHE

150/300/a25

Hero has been moved a lot, this is his 6th table in Day 1 - the buzz is that 3 of the top 5 chip stacks are at this table. There are about 30 minutes until the dinner break and we are still a ways from the money.

Hero has played about 3 orbits at this table, and has stolen blinds several times from LP and has won the blinds several times from SB vs BB. Image is probably somewhat LAG.

Three consecutive hands set the stage: Hero gets AK in the BB, about 4 limpers and hero sticks in a nice healthy raise and everyone folds. The very next hand hero get A9s in the SB. It is folded to the button who raised to 900. Hero moved all in. BB folds and Button hems and haws forever and finally folds showing AQ(!?).

Hero now has 11 K in chips and is on the button and gets JJ. It is folded to hero who raises to 900. The SB folds but the BB, who is a real tough euro player with about 15 K in chips, calls. Flop is Q82r. The euro kid bets pot right into hero for about 2200. What is hero's play?

For extra credit - If you say 'call', how would you react to another bet of 3000 ATT?

This seems like a ridiculously easy fold to me. We have 30+ BB's left w/ plently of poker left to play. Fold and wait for a better spot.

Wow, I don't think this is an easy fold by any stretch of the imagination.

This is live poker, so much of what I would do would depend on my "sense" of the situation. But I definitely don't think you want to just lay down in this situation when you actually have a very strong hand. At least make him uncomfortable by calling the flop and giving the turn bet considerable thought even if you decide you are going to fold pretty quickly.

You don't want guys like the BB having a sense they can easily play back at you.

Agree that this is not an easy fold. In fact, I think you have to call here. Based on Hero's image, why wouldn't BB CR if he hit a Q?

I bet you're ahead here a lot of the time. In any case, you'll find out rather quickly on the turn if you call here.

Thanks for the replies guys.

My response to my friend was a lot more like UCLABruin's and KramerTM's than AceLuby's (call ATF and re-eval). My friend mulled his decision for a long time and finally mucked his Jacks, then his opponent showed A8 (second pair).

Calling seems obvious . . . can't let yourself get run over.

Any sense in raising here?

jason75, what would you be accomplishing by raising?

I think this is a good example of why it is so important to get beyond your own cards and the board, and into the head of your opponent. Kramer very correctly points out that it is unlikely given the context of this hand that villain would bet out with any hand that beats us. We are very likely well ahead and this is a non-drawing board. Just call and evaluate the turn.
