i've am trying to prepare for a live tournment of about 150 people so i've been playing in on-line real money low stakes tournments with about 180 people. 49th place was the best finish i had. the worst is like 82nd. at first i realized i was playing tight then in other tournments i loosen up more playing more hands behing the button (or better position) like Q 2 off. basically trying to be more aggressive and see more flops. but when people are constantly raising the pots etc how can i keep calling with trash. They see the table is tight and start raising. how do you combat this

i have read books etc and i have a understanding loose players don't want action/resistance. so i raise. but when there are so many callers and raiser it's hard to play. then you see them put people in with JT or K9. pretty soon my M get low and i gotta start making moves. is this just the way it is and the books should be used as a guide. because i also hear when the table is loose play tight and vice versa.

practice and read here as often as possible, read hand posts. I know that has helped me a lot here. I also try to think about every hand I play where I think I could of won the pot with better play and try to make a mental note of it. Analyze ur play to the death...

The key is to distinguish the ones that are like this from the calling stations that just play hands that look pretty, and adjust accordingly. [ QUOTE ] then you see them put people in with JT or K9 [/ QUOTE ] Take note of these players too, and punish them with your good hands. Just play more, post hands and read whatever the experienced players have to say. |
