Dorm T.V.

i have been contemplating this for a while now, but i need some more help to decide what i should do. i am looking at getting a t.v. for my dorm room anywhere from 20 to 30 inches. however, the thing i need to know is whether i should buy a flat screen t.v. or just a normal t.v. would it be worth spending the extra money on the flat screen? or should i save my money because there isn't much of a difference between the two? thanks!

You're in college. [censored] TV. The money you save with a normal television should be spent on alcohol. Lots of it.

Seriously though, how much television do you want to watch in college??? I understand that having a flat screen will increase your chances of having the "fun" dorm that everyone wants to hang out in but based on my experience with that last year (my roommate brought the sick stuff, not me), that can get kind of tiring when you want to actually get some sleep at 4 am on a Monday. In summation, I think the extra money spent on a flat screen tv has much better uses in college.

Get a regular TV. I got a 27 inch in my room, necessary for football and other stuff. Is a flat screen necessary? Do you get HD in your room?

A huge plasma is actually TOO big for most dorm rooms. You have to be a good distance away from a 50" TV in order to view it optimally. Now a 27" plasma, that would be hott.

A huge plasma is actually TOO big for most dorm rooms. You have to be a good distance away from a 50" TV in order to view it optimally. Now a 27" plasma, that would be hott.

for every 10 inches of screen its 2 to 2.5 feet from the TV.

Two things you need to consider.

1. Do you have room for a crt televison if you dont go with the lcd/plasma.

2. Do you watch any high def tv, do you like playing video games in high def and do you care about if your dvds look extra pretty.

One thing people do not understand is that Plasma and LCD tvs watching regular TV look like absolute [censored]. The regular old 27 inch flat screen tvs you can buy at best buy for 250 bucks look 10 times better watching standard defenition tv over there more expensive plamsa/lcd flat panel counterparts.

This really isn't true, only if you have a monster TV does regular TV look bad (it gets stretched to fit the large screen). I got a 37" LCD panel for my dorm last year and it worked out very well. Any bigger and it would have been too big. But definately get an LCD panel, they look a lot more slick than CRT and CRTs are too big for the dorm anyway.

get a 36" flat screen. make sure its S-video enabled so u can plug ur laptop into it, and play poker on ur new dope ass TV
