Check raise the turn for a free river - spew or good line?
Party Poker 1/2 Hold'em (10 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: 2+2 Forums)
Preflop: Hero is CO with Q[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]. UTG calls, 5 folds, Hero calls, Button raises, 2 folds, UTG calls, Hero calls. Flop: (7.50 SB) Q[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 2[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 3[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (3 players) UTG checks, Hero checks, Button bets, UTG folds, Hero calls. Turn: (4.75 BB) 7[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 players) Hero checks, Button bets, Hero raises . . . I can tell when I'm too tired to play poker because I start playing like a LAG. Nonetheless, I think that this is an interesting line here. Unless Button has a very good hand or is aggressive, I'm likely to get to showdown without putting any more money in the pot. And if another heart falls on the river, my hand is well disguised, and I may get a call that I otherwise might not. And I realize that I should have raised PF. Edit: Buck's post reminded me that I left out a very important fact. Button was VERY tight and passive. Over an admittedly small sample size, he was only playing about 9% of his hands, and this was the first time in twenty or thirty hands that I saw him raise. |

Why do you want villain to put less money into this pot?

raise preflop. Bet the flop minus a read; checkraise at the very least.

1. Raising for a freeshowdoen down doesn't work when you are OOP
2. Raising for a freedowndown doesn't work when you have to call a 3-bet. Just my 2-cents, and I'm not saying that a raise here is bad; bad it should be for value if you raise. |

Bet or C/R the flop here, bet turn, bet river if no overs hit

A small sample size only leads me to determine if villain is either REALLY loose, or REALLY tight, but even then, I put very little creedence into small samples.
I tend to Cr the flop/lead the turn here. We have the best hand many times. |
