Yell at the parents all you want, but if I were a parent I'd be pretty pissed if someone yelled at my kids. TELL them they shouldn't have done it, but yelling isn't your business.

Also bear in mind that as young kids, they WILL always remember you as the person that yelled at you. But then when they reach the age of 12 or whatever, they'll think of you as a jerk, then they'll probably egg your house, vandalise your car or kill your dog, and you'll have to make a topic on OOT about it. So as long as you're one step ahead of them, i still think yelling is fine.

I always find people in these posts douches, but not in this case. Anyone who thinks what you did is out of line has never owned a dog. Next time don't raise your voice just be stern but I understand the heat of the moment thing.

I don't really have a problem with what you did, but I personally don't like to yell at or in any way discipline other people's kids. I take it out on the parents and let them deal with their little snot.

Unless you're a white trash drunk, you should care more about why your seven year old was out of your sight and going into someone's home to grab their pet.

The yelling is no big deal at all. The 7 year old kid that [censored] well knows better, B&Eing a neighbors house and stealing his dog is the big deal.

The kid committed two felonies here and his parents suck. Yelling isn't a crime.

It will still cause animosity in a lot of cases. When I was young I was a troublemaker, and while my parents would always come down on me hard at home, they'd also defend me in front of others (at least where applicable).

ps. besides, this kid could grow up to become wicked jack, and remind you of this event in front of your now pregnant wife, causing her to cry and ultimately breakup with you.

NH, sir.
