A couple questions:

Is there any way to check if I am on her AIM buddylist?

How do I break the ice with a girl who I haven't talked to in 5 yrs. I don't even know if she lives in the same state as me. If I just say, "Hey [her name], whats up?" will that come off as stalkerish? Don't want to end up like Anacardo. I haven't even been on AIM at all in the passed years, but I still think about this girl especially now that I broke up with my gf.

For her to tell everybody within earshot what a creep I am, except in real life and not on a poker forum. I dunno if thats a rational worry to have though because Im not like that. I just think it might seem odd that I just message her randomly after so long with no contact.

Well I wasn't forced to make a lame thread; just looking for advice. Also I am pursuing other girls, as for this one I still think about her now and then and she holds a place of higher importance in my heart/mind. You can say get over her, but I saw plenty of action in college and am still not over her.

No but seriously, just go for it dude. Say something like "you popped into my head the other day and I thought I would drop you a line and see how you're doing." Plus for all you know she'd like to hear from you, and the fact that you made the effort will be a load off of your mind.

You might try and find her on myspace/facebook first, because that sort of thing is pretty normal on social networking sites, but really, it ain't no thang.

Saying hi won't make you seem like a stalker. Most people have at least some desire to talk to old friends, she'll probably find it a pleasant surprise. In fact, asking her out to "catch up" would probably be a sure bet if you guys used to be at all close.
