Because personal choices can hurt people around you? SECOND HAND SMOKE!!!

Just saying, comparing to eating fast food is dumb, if I eat a burger you don't get any calories.

I don't care if people smoke or if they make it illegal, no real difference to me, but some of the arguments people make that 'smoking hurts no one else' are a little off in my opinion.

[/ QUOTE ]

Show me a credible scientific study that second hand smoke is actually harmful.

The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has classified secondhand smoke as a Group A carcinogen, which means that there is sufficient evidence that it causes cancer in humans.

I take the EPA to be fairly credible, I'll look to see if I can find the specific study or studies they did to be reference like this for you.

There you go, its in a weird version as you have to look at in HTML and not the PDF version, as least I did, and all the relevant search words were highlighted.

Used properly and with consideration for others, smoking poses no threat to others beyond the smoker. Used improperly, without consideration for others, smoking can pose a threat to non-users.

The same is true of automobiles and baseball bats.

If you have a problem with second-hand smoke, then you have a problem with the individual smoker, not the product.

Why would second hand smoke be different than first hand? It seems obvious that the dosage (amount of smoke breathed in) is different, but the chemical properties of the smoke must be either the same or very similar.

This is a stupid question. What you should be asking is why isn't weed and other drugs legal.

I'm not sure if this is allowed, but I will upload an episode of Penn & Teller BullShi t! that talks about second hand smoke, and why that EPA report is bogus. Pretty interesting stuff, give me a few minutes.
