PF: I like limping. Why not? Raising isn't gonna win you the pot, and you're just cutting down on your implied odds when you do hit. [/ QUOTE ] Both halves of this argument are false. It wins the pot a lot, and it increases our implied odds. Many people get this wrong, because it's counter-intuitive, but your implied odds in a limped pot just aren't that hot. Your implied odds in a raised pot are often a Villain's stack. In a limped pot, many players will call the flop and fold the turn. In a raised pot, if they are calling the flop they are often calling the turn/river as well -- for much more money. It also wins the pot unimproved very often when neither player flops anything, or when the limper had trash and doesn't want to play OOP in a raised pot. As to the hand, pet the pot on the flop. Check the turn. Call any non-[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] river, and value bet if checked to. Obviously try to get it in on a T or 9 river. |

Alright I see the straight flush, but I don't fear it. [/ QUOTE ] Actually, there are more combinations completing a straight flush than making the higher boat, but I admit two of them are very unlikely. Doesn't really matter, I guess. What I'm more concerned about is if that call of the min-raise on the turn is acceptable or not. I was led by the "Ah well, that's what I wanted to bet anyway" thought - which of course is not the right thing to do. But now, looking at implied odds, outs when behind, and a small chance of being ahead, makes this situation difficult to judge for me. |

[/ QUOTE ] Check behind the turn, no need to bloat the pot or give villain a chance to check raise. That way you can call a reasonable bet on a safe river and get some value out of your hand. Villain's check raise is a milking bet. You almost have to call it, but folding would not be weak because he has at least set or better here about always. |
