Futon Suggestions
I am living in the dorms this year and am considering buying a futon. The futon needs to cost less than $250 and I need to be able to buy it at a major store or online. Does anyone have any suggestions or input about having a futon in a dorm room. I would not be sleeping on it but would be using it as a couch/extra bed. Thanks.

Re: Futon Suggestions
I have no real comments other than to say its definitely a good thing to have if you've got the extra space. Even a comfy chair will do, but if possible be sure to have SOMETHING besides your bed and desk chair to sit on. That's all I freshman year due to size restraints and it sucked.

Re: Futon Suggestions
Whatever you do, don't get one from Wal Mart. I think my roommate paid $100 for it, and it wasn't even worth that. From the start you could feel the bars up your ass through the padding when sitting on it. Plus one 270 lbs. kid sitting on it completely ruined the shape of the steel. Look elsewhere.

Re: Futon Suggestions
This could very well be describing most futons. Futons are entirely overrated.

Re: Futon Suggestions
sometimes wallmart has futons for like $100. a lot of times they are crap but occasionally they are wicked comfortable, just get a feather bed, and foam pad for it an you'll be all set.

Re: Futon Suggestions
last year i had a triple, both my roomates got futons from walmart (a month apart) and i took two beds and put them together to form a king sized one. one of my roomates futons sucked, but the other one was really good and comfortable, it lasted all year without getting messed up at all. they each only paid like $100
