Re: The \"Do I Need to See This Movie\" Thread
back to the first page, some guy picked it up on the second page, but on the waterfront is really really must see
One that I watched that was a total waste of time, was the original Thomas Crowne Affair. Totally dated. The whole chess game scene was terrible. [ |

V for Vendetta? [/ QUOTE ] I wouldn't say that its must-see, but it is quite good. It's not even out on DVD yet...I think movies have to age at least a little bit before they become must-see. Make a point of seeing every Natalia Portman movie, if only for her. She's the best actress of her generation. Also, this movie deals with a lot of issues that I (and others, hopefully) feel are very important today. |

I didn't like Scarface. I didn't like Raging Bull at all, in fact, I really disliked it. I also hated American Psycho and I thought Deerhunter was very overrated. The first hour is bloody awful and boring and there are only a few excellent scenes in the rest of the movie.
Oh, One Flew is DEFINITELY a must-see film. Absolutely amazing film. |

[ QUOTE ] Citizen Kane? [/ QUOTE ] Must-see. I mean you may not even like it, but being that it's the most important film ever made you pretty much have to see it. [/ QUOTE ] i don't see how one reconciles this position and lambastes blade runner as being unsuitable for modern audiences. |

[ QUOTE ] I didn't like Scarface. [/ QUOTE ] Wow. Just wow. Thats a sentence I never thought I would hear/read. [/ QUOTE ] It's an opinion shared by tons of people so I'm surprised you haven't heard it before. It's just not a great movie. It only holds up to repeated viewings because of Stone/DePalma's clever way of littering the movie with would-be classic scenes, and basically for laughs at Pacino's Spanish accent. |
