Question- Are you guys able to picture the chess board by the moves and see what pieces are gone, or do you have some sort of visual aid? Is there an online place that you can make the moves on the board and it shows it?

I did a quick search on google once we started and got this. I'm pretty sure there are several other similar sites.

I hope we aren't supposed to be just picturing the board.

There's a white board in the next hallway that has a chess board drawn on it, and chess peices stuck to magnets on the board. That's how I visualize these things

np. although you did just get me interested in a game where anybody can move...

I remember at one point they had a world vs kasparov match where anyone on the internet could vote for their favorite move. Kasparov was actually impressed with the worlds play even though of course kasparov won. I think a curtains vs PoG match could be fun.

There was a lot of controversy over the match. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kasparov_versus_The_World.

I think that I might be able to give curtains a run for his money on a good day with some luck, but perhaps I think too highly of myself.

I'm sure there are plenty of chess visualisation aids, but I use Winboard when I'm playing email. There is an Xboard if you're using *ix.
