Default Anyone using Wireless BroadbandAccess from Verizon?

I live in Jersey and take the train NY everyday, and have been thinking about getting this to play on my commute to and from work. Anyone have any experience with this?

Also, anyone ever here about running Party on a PDA or smartphone (although I highly doubt that it's possible)?

we've had threads about verizon broadband access cards before.

I love mine and have had it for several months.
Works great in major markets.

No idea if there would be overflow traffic problems in NY/NJ.
Tunnels and so forth might be a problem.

It pretty much works roughly as consistently as your cell-phone signal in a given area.

In major markets it's pretty decent speed. Not quite full-fledged broadband, but peaks up to 700kb usually.

On the highway or in smaller cities you are just on National Access (instead of Broadband Access) and it works pretty much as dial-up (a bit faster actually).

I think there was a 15 day satisfaction guarantee when I got it last year.
So you could buy the wireless card (probably $100 or so) and start a subscription. And if it sucks you can return it.

The guy I ordered from on the phone last year was super helpful. I was reluctant to sign-up for a 2-year deal if the connection was going to suck and he assured me that I wasn't the only one and that's why they were doing the 15-day trial period.

I have occasional disconnects, maybe a couple a week.
Often times I'm able to reconnect before I even time-out from the hand.

Once a month or so I get an outage of maybe 5 minutes or less. Can't remember the last time I've had an outage longer than that.

I'm in Memphis by the way so that could be different from other markets.

Thanks for the info.

I have verizon for my cell service, and in the NJ/NY area coverage is excellent, even in tunnels.

Thanks again for the response.

I just signed up for this service. Speed is mediocre for me, but I am on the very EDGE of the service map. I have heard some customers are getting peaks of 2Megabaud.

Warning.. Many customers have had thier service revoked if they exceed 10GB/month download.

If you are going to exceed that, then go with SPrint I hear.

I didn't know that customers were getting their service revoked. didn't think they were that serious about it but I guess they are.

I'm not downloading a ton of music or anything like that though.
Just playing online-poker wouldn't get you close to that level, would it? (just guessing).

Think this might be more related to running some 24-hour web-cam or something.

I saw a commercial for the Sprint card where they mention unlimited service plan (probably costs more).

Anyway, I have never had a warning or anything from Verizon so I assume I am okay until they tell me otherwise.
I'm almost 1 year into my 2 year plan anyway.

I live in NYC (the Bronx) and it works great everywhere except my house (my brother has it also and his works great in my house- Ive sent my card back a few times and have the same problem which is very strange)Hopefully they actually fix this problem soon.
When I used it at my friends house 3 blocks away its as fast as Optimum Online.

maybe you're getting interference when you use a wireless phone or microwave or something??

I'm not sure if this would interfere with the signal or not.
But if I'm at my GF's place and she's on the phone I sometimes had connection probs (maybe a coincidence though).
