Default Extraction vs Protection $10 NLTRN

I've just started playing HU SNGs on Stars to work on my hand reading. I haven't browsed these boards and there are no digests, so I'm pretty much figuring it out as I go. (wanted to get a few matches under my belt to get an idea of the games)

PokerStars, very first hand of tourney.

PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t20 (2 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: 2+2 Forums)

Hero (t1500)
BB (t1500)

Preflop: Hero is Button with 6[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 4[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img].
Hero raises to t60, BB calls t40.

Flop: (t120) T[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 7[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (2 players)
BB bets t100, Hero raises to t250, BB calls t150.

Turn: (t620) 8[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 players)
BB checks, Hero bets ?

I'm fairly sure Villain has 4-flush here. Do I bet T300 to extract? Do I bet T400-450 to protect my hand? Should I have raised more on the flop?

Thanks.

Don't make posts asking for general stratigies for HU play.

[/ QUOTE ] I hope I am not breaking this rule.

I like how you played this hand all the way around. I might have called the flop bet instead of raising simply because your flush is so powerful heads up, but depending on my opponent I might also have raised like you did. I can't complain about how you played the flop.

Here's what I see: Your raise on the flop was kind of small, if the villian has any hand (not a complete bluff) he's going to call that small raise, even if he thinks he is beaten. If the turn doesn't help him he's going to check.

If it were me I'd bet 400 on the turn and here's why: Chances are the villian knows he is beat here and is probably going to fold. If he decides to fold he's gonna fold to a bet of 200 or a bet of 400, it doesn't make a difference. If he has a decent hand he's probably going to call whether you bet 200, 300, or 400. So considering the fact that he's going to call or fold regardless of the bet size (within reasonable range) I'd bet the high end of the range simply for value. And if he calls go all in on river. At this point he's already decided if he's going to fold away half his chips or call off all of them, there's no point trying to get cute. just move in on the river, he already knows if he's going to fold or call. Bet size matters little at that point.

The only exception is if another diamond falls.

I used to play mostly HU sngs. I've seen it all in my days. First, you made a standard button raise. You like villian is giving you credit for a flush just yet ? He obviously is calling preflop. Standard play all around. On the flop, he's leading out to see where he's at probably. I like the reraise here. To many players tend to just smooth call her, and there hand becomes second best if a dimoond comes or baord pairs. Then it gets tough to play. I don't really like to get tricky in big pots. I agree with the rereaise for the other two reasons. If he calls this, and the board doesnt pair on turn or the river or no dimond hits than I'm playing / calling an all in bet.I think he's drawing to a flush here. With any real hand he could come back over the top of you. I really think he checks this turn for pot control. He will hope you check behind me. Here you have two options. If you think your dominating him and can force more chips out of him on the river if non diamond hits than you can bet for value. I'd bet around 2/3 the pot here. It's enough that if he calls, you get an idea of where he's at. Your stating to him your pot committed on this hand. With one card to come I prefer to bet big here and let him chase. If non diamond hits and he checks, he's probably not calling any bet that would justify your play of just checking the flop. Your missing chances to gain chip with best hand most likely. I'd bet that turn big and see what river brings.
