Yes 3 bet it, he's probably on a draw or A/mediocre kicker, bottom 2 pair is very vurnable so bet big on flop.

3 bet the flop all day or youll puke when the turn comes the 8c or a red ace or something
Id make it 250 and OBV call a push

This looks to me like he was trying a donk "min raise bluff" and has given up. In these spots players typically fold to any meaningful bet. Id go 150
If he CRAI all in that would suck.

Did you have any read on the SB? I can't see him making that raise on the flop with a flush draw. I rule out a straight unless he's a terrible terrible player. 55 or 44 is possible but highly unlikely with you holding 54. He smells strongly of AK or AA. AK is more likely (as there's more ways for him to have it than AA - 12 versus 3).

So I believe you're probably still ahead. I think a value bet is in order here. Maybe $150. If he goes all in you have a tough decision. If he calls, he'll have a tough decision on the river and you'll probably get to check it down. Seems to me you're ahead more than you're behind with the way he's bet.

what does '3 bet the flop' mean? I'm relatively new to this site and there's still some terminology that I'm missing. Is there a good place that acts as a reference on this site? (I got CRAI!)

I'd for sure three bet that flop.

As played, that turn is a hideously ugly card for you. I'd probably bet $175, fold to a push, and check behind on any river except a 5.

3 bet means put in a 3rd bet he bet 45, his opponent raised to 90, so a 3 bet is putting in a 3rd raise, eg to 200
