This just defies logic - you showed a bluff earlier, which should make people more likely to call you, and then morons are folding KK to your shove?!? [/ QUOTE ] Winner! |

When one says worse than 25NL at party, we mean it. [/ QUOTE ] AKQJ10 after a frustrating session of online $50NL: "Man, NLHE is tough! Maybe it's just variance, but there's supposed to be less variance in this game. I wonder if I'm really a losing player or just running bad?"* AKQJ10 after a weekend of live $1-2: "This game is great! Show up, play for several hours, cash out up a few hundred, go to dinner, repeat for the evening session. I wish I'd learned this game sooner instead of dicking around with low limits for a while!" That said, I'm surprised the stories revolve around weak tight play. I tend to try to exploit the opposite -- set mining, playing one hand an hour, still getting action. -- *It doesn't help that my computer was stolen in early July and I hadn't backed up my PT database. |

[/ QUOTE ] Its not so much the fact that he folded KK that gets me, but rather that he folded with $40 left in his stack while the getting over 3:1 on his money. Truly spectacular play. |

Re: 1/2 live Hooter\'s LV
The mixture of stupid maniacs, retarded calling stations, and pathetic weak-tight nits means you need to pay attention at the Vegas NL tables, so that you know what you're dealing with. Personally, I lost $170 over the weekend. Given my cards, it should have been more, but many of my opponents were all but playing with their cards face-up. My parade of *SICK* laydowns:
I folded Q6 on a Q-high flop: villain shows AQ. I folded QJ on a Q-high flop: villain shows AA. I folded A9s on an A85r flop: villain shows ATs. Alternatively, I made a $50 river value-bet with 99 after villain checked on a board of 7-6-5-2-9 with three clubs, and I got called by 55. Painful, I know, but I saved myself a good $300 with those folds by properly identifying my opponents. Most of the live $1/$2 NL players in Vegas are idiots, but they come in a wide variety of idiocy. The sooner you identify your opponents, the sooner the money starts pouring in. KNOWLEDGE IS POWER! KNOW THY DONK! |

Pokey,
You should really loosen up a bit when playing non-holdem games. It's really quite fun. |

Re: 1/2 live Hooter\'s LV
This thread (and the recent Vegas trip report of SSNL) makes me very anxious to go back to Vegas and try NL there. That, and the very nice waitresses at the Orleans
I'm very curious if the live $1/$2 could cover my airfare + hotel... |
