New Zealand Internet
Im planning to backpack around new zealand leaving in october. IM hoping to take my computer and get in some hours at the tables to hopefully pay for some of the trip. Can anyone tell me what internet is like in the hostels and cafes there; things like speed, prices, disconnects, and whatever else. Thanks!

Re: New Zealand Internet
I'm a NZ'er. I can't tell you what the hostels, cafes, etc., are like - but FWIW NZ has a pretty good infrastructure. Not particularly fast or cheap, but pretty reliable, which is the most important consideration for on-line poker.
I've never had any trouble using the 'net anywhere around NZ. If you have trouble in a particular cafe, for example, it's probably their fault, and easily fixed by moving to another. |

Re: New Zealand Internet
I've lived and travelled in NZ. The business class hotels have decent broadband connections. IIRC, the cost is something like $25/day (I suspect that is $NZ) and the service is pretty good. There are cafes around, my recollection is that the cost was pretty reasonable, but I don't have any experience with using them.
Have fun in NZ, it is a great place. |

Re: New Zealand Internet
I stayed at the hostels and every one I was at only had a few computers hooked up which you had to pay by the half hour/hour. Depending on where you are your proally looking at somewhere between $4-$10 NZ/hr. I don't believe any of the hostels I stayed at actually had wireless internet so I wouldn't count on that. I also didn't encounter any cafes with wireless internet either but then again I wasn't really looking.
Enjoy the trip I just got back and am already missing it. |
