First post here, excited to get involved in this forum. Have been a long time reader.

entertaime, I've been debating puchasing a macbook, and was wondering if you could give me some insight. If I were to purchase one of the macbooks that Apple is currently selling in their online store, being it is an intel processor, would I be able to run it using the Boot Camp or Parallels that you describe and play online poker on them? Or, being its a laptop and not as powerful, will I have trouble with it?

What it boils down to is, I want a new laptop, and I want something that is efficient. But, online poker is so important that I probably can't purchase a mac if I am going to have all sorts of trouble with the softwares compatability on a mac.

Yes, you can run Windows on a MacBook. (You do need a copy of XP SP2 as well as Boot Camp or Parallels.)

And no, MacBooks are as good at doing this as any Mac right now (until they unveil the new professional-grade machines in a few weeks). All MacBooks have Core Duo processors, which are pretty much state-of-the-Intel-art for consumer machines.

Thirdly, I was curious about the Party "mac-friendly" thing too (I have a dual-processor PowerMac and play either in Virtual PC or on the Dell e1705 that I bought the day before Boot Camp came out). There is no sign of Mac-compatibility anywhere on PP, .com or .net. I'm guessing they just mean you can use Boot Camp, while trying to keep Mac people from finding out how great Full Tilt's Mac client is.

Ok, to dumb it down for me, (you will realize how dumb I am in the following sentence.)

Say I pawn off my 1.8gh inspiron (yes, I bought a dell) for $500, I could get the $1100 Macbook; and this machine would be able to pull off running windows without a hitch?

This is going to get a bit OT, but I am sure there are at least a couple of players looking into this;

I've heard that Mac processors turn out to have comparable efficiency as higher rated PC processors. Do you have any knowledge on this? {sarcasm} does running windows on the mac result in less problems with the windows OS? {/sarcasm}

These new professional grade machines? What prices/speifications can be expected? I've always heard that Apple keeps their lips tightly sealed about new development. Being knowledgable about macs, do you have any idea about what these machines will consist of?

Also, do you think, because of this, that there will be discounts offered on the macbook or the pro?

With their current software problems, party can't be played on Mac, or Windows.

If you get the new macbooks they will run windows (using bootcamp) just as good as your Dell. I have the core duo mac mini and when you run boot camp on it it's just like a P.C. You cannot tell a difference. You will need a copy of the Windows XP on CD though; I had to get one from my friend, don't know if what I'm doing is entirely legal since I didn't buy it. I think he gave me either a bootleg or one that came with his computer. Whatever it is he sells them on ebay.
