77 on JJ7 slowplay or bet hoping someone has J?
Figured either they have J and i gonna get paid of or they dont have anything and its gonna be hard to get $$$ from them.
But if turn is 8 or 9 and they have 99 im getting broke. What do you think? [/ QUOTE ] Therefore you should bet agressively, just as you would have done when you missed the flop. And raise to ~$3.5 preflop or (less preferable) limp along, this raise accomplishes nothing. |

In that case, you're not gonna get a lot of action anyway if no one has a jack so you might as well build a pot up for those times where you're opponent is slowplaying is AJ. Maybe by checking, you could induce a bet by TT on the turn but the pot won't build up so fast...

don't post results please.
if you're going to raise preflop, raise what you would with any bigger hand - somewhere around 6.5x-7xBB. betting this flop is good, the only hands that will call later streets improved (flush draws->flush) will call the flop. |

[/ QUOTE ] I seriously dont get it why are you guys so aggresive and raise that much the only hands thats gonna call those bets are AA KK QQ JJ so you raise 7x then flop comes you bet 15x and what heppens then? You just lost over 20BB with nothing The reason why i raise so small is that there are like 4-5 ppl i raise so they would call and get some piece of the flop when i get set. i hit my set 7.5-1 there are already 4 or 5x my initial raise. So there is no way i could lose $$$ Besides those hands AA KK QQ JJ are about 20% on 10 handed. Good luck taking 4 times 0.75BB and then 5 time you run into those hands they either reraise you or wait untill you make CB on flop and you just lost 20BB |

Re: 77 on JJ7 slowplay or bet hoping someone has J?
Im a newbie but:
I almost always slow-play boats because I want people to get draws or think their PP is still good. If I want to be tricky I will make a semi-weak bet like $3.1 on the flop, but then go back to my usual aggressive play on the turn and river. I've managed to extract a few bets off of players with air like this. |

Re: 77 on JJ7 slowplay or bet hoping someone has J?
The reason you raise more is so that you can take it down if you don't hit your set, and make more money when you do. It also helps disguise your hand if you don't change your raise sizes depending on the type of your hand.
On the flop, bet less, about half the pot. You are hoping for a flush draw to call "profitably" |

Re: 77 on JJ7 slowplay or bet hoping someone has J?
I think it's important in situations like this to play like your opponents have only a certain range of hands because everything else is fairly irrelevant. If they're all holding 2 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 2 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] or A [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] Q [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] they're probably getting away on this flop. Assume they've got a good hand [AJ etc] and then work out how to extract the most from there. In general betting out will work the best.
I don't mind the preflop raise that much, it bloats the pot perfectly for situation like this where you don't mind it being multiway too much. I'd probably put in a bigger raise but as long as you're mixing up your raising with other holdings and not defining your hand then this is fine imo. I think you played it well and were just unlucky not to get paid off too much. |

Dude 6-7BB raise is so "fishy" move. if you didnt notice i explained you earlier. the only hands thats gonna call your 6-7BB will be AA KK QQ JJ if i start raising 4-5BB and my PFR will be 15% ppl gonna start reraising me of waiting for AA KK QQ JJ and wait untill i make CB so they could take 20BB from me. If you guys giving bad advices and you dont know what you are talking about pls dont post here... If you say i guess im noob but i think ... stop right there. Untill you dont have 2 winning yrs under your belt dont post your "advices" but i guess i cant get answer here because its small stakes. So its dead end. I cant get good advice because 90% of the guys at small stakes are noobs |
