That's right. From Cardplayer:
[ QUOTE ] Sat Jul 29 16:47:00 PDT 2006 Phil Hellmuth Eliminated Phill Hellmuth was all-in with A-Q, versus an opponent's pocket 7s. The 7s hold up, and a once short-stcked Phill Hellmuth is now eliminated. [/ QUOTE ] |

Phil Hellmuth was primed for a run deep into this main event. There will be no run. Sevens! ***damn.

What were the blinds when he went all-in and was called by 77?

I think it was in level 3 when the blinds were 50/100 with no antes, but don't quote me on that. blinds were def. at or below 100/200 though with no ante yet.

[ QUOTE ]
After only two hands, he had lost significant chunks of his stack when his pair of jacks got beaten by two queens, then when a pair of kings lost to two aces. Players weren't willing to simply fold and move on when Hellmuth made raises -- the way many pros do -- and he was forced to alter his game plan. He lost on the same hand that knocked him out last year. He went all in with an A-Q against an opponent holding a pair of 7s. It's about a 50-50 bet as to who will win, and Hellmuth lost. [/ QUOTE ] Brilliant writing. Espy! |
