Re: (2/4) Waiting until the river
One extra BB if called. When you weigh the bets gained if called times the probability of villain calling, you'll see that a turn raise makes you more by a small fraction.

Re: (2/4) Waiting until the river
I almost always will raise this on the turn, esp with the flush draw out. I want my 2 bets now and don't want to call the turn and then see villan check/fold the river. Also, when villan calls the 2 bet he still may hit a piece of the river and call down.

[/ QUOTE ] I don't see how I make an extra BB by raising the turn instead of the river if villain has a worse A. But I do see how I can miss a BB if villain folds his pp to my turn raise. |

What piece is he going to hit? Afte the preflop and flop action, the villain is going to have an A or pp 90% of the time. The only hands that are drawing are KQ [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] and KJ [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] |

Re: (2/4) Waiting until the river
Villan unknown is the thing..they could have Ax of clubs.
Ak, AQ, AJ, A10..etc I still raise this turn 90% of the time. |

Re: (2/4) Waiting until the river
I think raising the river foregoes much value betting that could have occurred between the flop and the turn.

Re: (2/4) Waiting until the river
I think we need to be more concerned about opponent checking the river than we do with him folding to our river raise.

Re: (2/4) Waiting until the river
Not really. Even if he bets the river 100% of the time, raising the turn is still better, because of what range of hands call the raises.

Re: (2/4) Waiting until the river
Reading the responses, some are way way way off....
This is definitely as good if not better than raising the turn. A lot of hands like 77 / air type hands he will fold to the turn raise but may c/c or bet the river allowing you to win +1 bb from them. any legitimate hand that will call 2 on the turn and 1 on the river, will be more likely to call 1 on the turn and 2 on the river due to bigger pot odds and what not.
