Default Boring Hand

Again, I'm just dabbling with NL. I feel lost in these situations.

Limper was a loose fish, BB was 27/0/.5 over a small sample.

SB ($177.10)
BB ($91.65)
UTG ($54.85)
MP ($12.25)
Hero ($123.05)
Button ($91.50)

Preflop: Hero is CO with T, K. SB posts a blind of $0.50.
1 fold</font>, MP calls $1, Hero raises to $3</font>, 2 folds</font>, BB calls $2, MP calls $2.

Flop: ($9.50) K, 3, 9 (3 players)</font>
BB checks, MP checks, Hero bets $7</font>, BB calls $7, MP folds.

Turn: ($23.50) 7 (2 players)</font>

Raise to 5 PF.

You induced a bluff so you have a case for calling, but BB called a pretty big bet on a very dry board in a raised pot. I'd say your beat by a better K or K9 here a lot, so I'm folding. I'm still working out a lot of issues in these river spots though.

That was definitely my thinking in this hand, he called a good sized bet so I felt I was behind. Is it standard here to check the turn?

It's a standard check for me. There's no draws on that board at all, so either villain is drawing to 5 outs or less or you are drawing to 5 outs or less. There's nothing for you to protect against, so unless villain is a complete fish that you know will happily call bets with 88 or T9 here, a check is likely best.

What could happen on the river that would make you not call a bet, be it a bet size or a river card? I'm always stuck when I do this and villain pots the river.

Don't we check the turn so that we can call this river bet?
