PLO8 $50 : Straight without position
Hi,
I've got a problem playing straight when I do not have the position. What should I do on the turn and on the river ? No special read on the player. I only know that most of them makes more mistakes than I do. I check the turn, and given the action, I know that I've got the best hand. Should I keep this pot small ? Thanks for not answering fold preflop Paradise Poker Pot Limit Omaha Ring game Blinds: $0.25/$0.50 10 players Stack sizes: UTG: $26.50 UTG+1: $30.00 MP1: $14.50 MP2: $54.85 MP3: $16.40 MP4: $20.00 CO: $35.00 Button: $9.25 Hero: $65.20 BB: $35.05 Pre-flop: (10 players) Hero is SB with J[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 5[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] Q[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] K[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] UTG calls, UTG+1 folds, MP1 calls, 2 folds, MP4 calls, CO folds, Button calls, Hero calls, BB checks. Re: PLO8 $50 : Straight without position
Its tough to play vulnerable nut hands OOP, and as an avid PLO player I feel qualified to answer this post, as it plays like a PLO hand.
Depending on how the table had been playing calling or raising is right. At a table of callers, not too aggro, I'd raise 3/4. Not to many people can play this hand, as most play lo cards, and you are probably ahead with good draws. Turn: current, vulnerable nuts. I like the PR. You are EV+. River: clear check/call situation. Your PB said st8 or 3kind, certaintly not drawing. You are typically only called by better hands. Worse hands might try to bluff. Check, call. |

Re: PLO8 $50 : Straight without position
you tried to take it down on the turn and BB made a call I wouldn't make with his cards. You don't want to see a king or spade or board pairing and you get a king of spades. cut your losses maybe

Re: PLO8 $50 : Straight without position
I forgot : On the river, I do a blocking bet, and plan to fold to any raise, so that BB don't try to bluff me

Re: PLO8 $50 : Straight without position
Why waste the money if you're going to fold?
Check/Call on the river. |

Why waste the money if you're going to fold? Check/Call on the river. [/ QUOTE ] I had to call even a pot size bet ? These tables are not very agressive. I make a blocking bet because it will cost me only 10$ to be sure I don't have the best hand. If I check, I think he can pot it with the best hand or bluff (less likely). And I don't like to make these calls. But I'm perhaps doing something wrong. |
