Re: 5/10 - 1 card flush
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] I don't see any other line to take other than bet/call on the river. [/ QUOTE ] Could you post your reasoning? I think that's more important than the actual line itself. [/ QUOTE ] My Reasoning: We need to bet the river for value. If we get checkraised on the river, I think it's a bluff (or a lower flush) enough times to call the raise as well. |

Re: 5/10 - 1 card flush
Absolutely bet/call. You only need to catch a bluff 10% of the time to show a profit. You might be sure that you are beaten, but are you over 90% sure? Even against the tightest players, this is a call in my book.

Re: 5/10 - 1 card flush
I did bet/call the river. Here was my reasoning. On 4-flush boards, most people will lead a high flush, for fear of it getting checked through. But there are a million hands I'd make a crying call with, making a bet much more profitable than a CR. If he had 44, which somehow made it to the river, then the same reasoning applies.
One issue I see with this play, though, is that not all players at 5/10 are thinking. I believe that this villain would know I would check through too many hands, but there are loose/passives who can only think, "Wow, nut flush! CR!", without thinking, "Hey, that's a scary board, I should try to get value with a bet." |

Did you take down the hand? What did he have?

Re: 5/10 - 1 card flush
[ QUOTE ]
Did you take down the hand? What did he have? [/ QUOTE ] 77, no flush, if I remember correctly. The thing is, there's really only two hands he's going to have here, as people have already mentioned. He will have the nuts (or close to it), or complete air. He has the nuts if he's a non-thinking, chronic checkraiser, and he has air if it's FPS. Because of his ridiculous aggression, I'm more inclined to think it's FPS. At the mid-stakes games I usually play in, this is an even easier bet/call, IMO, because almost no one there will try to CR the nut flush. |
