Default itunes to mp3

I know the title doesnt sound poker related but it is. I listen to music when I play always and need to find a way to convert .m4p to .mp3 or any other readable file on my computer. CUrrently my gf has a butload of songs and I want to listen to them on my computer. I know I can convert to wav, put on a cd and compress to .mp3 but that will take about 30 cds to get all the music. I tried burning onto a dvd with all .wav files but can only create a data dvd which creates just more .m4p. Any suggestions. I know about the hymm project but their program does not work for itunes 6.0 and later.

find the protected files (if you don't know which ones they are, right click on one of the columns in the music window, then add "kind", then sort and find "protected aac") just don't add those to the convert selection. if you really want those, burn them to a cd, then rip them back into mp3. gl.
