Re: AA with a paired flop
To add to the explanation, they're calling stations. They call, that's why they get that name. Sure, they might have a 6, but they are much more likely not to. There are 2 sixes left, and lots of not-sixes. since they'll call you without a 6 and not raise you with one, betbetbetbetbet.

Re: AA with a paired flop
[ QUOTE ]
Shouldn't I be scared of the paired flop? [/ QUOTE ] The paired flop is actually to your advantage with an overpair, because the Kx hands can't beat you by pairing their other card. Anybody without a six is drawing mighty thin. You'll cost yourself more by being scared of the trips than you will by playing agressively and occasionally losing a big pot to trips. |

[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] Shouldn't I be scared of the paired flop? [/ QUOTE ] No. -McGee [/ QUOTE ] Sorry to be a pain, but can you explain the thinking behind this? [/ QUOTE ] If anyone was playing a 6 it would probably be from the blinds, or a pocket pair (and Quads would probably raise). If the flop were say QQT, then yes I'd be worried because people would be more likely to play a Q PF than a 6. In this case you will be safe most of the time, and your bet has value (since you have two callers you really only need to be ahead here >33% for your bet to be for value, you will be ahead much more than 33%) |

Re: AA with a paired flop
unless they are completely passive, i would have expected a 6 to raise the turn at the very least. no raise = reduced chance of 6. so im going to keep betting. possibly folding to a river c/r but probably not.

Re: AA with a paired flop
OK it's explanation time:
I obviously know that this is standard, but I was berated afterwards by a friend for being terrible (you can probably guess the result of the hand). I said to him that if I posted the hand on 2+2 everyone was going to say "standard". So sorry for being a bit of a troll. Now I need to find that print button... |

[/ QUOTE ] So now you have some additional information about your opponents about how they play their hands. You can use that next time you are in a pot with them. Next time you may have a slight bit more of a reason to "be scared of a 6"! As for your friend who berated you, tell him to come play in my game so I can get cheap showdowns with my marginal hands when he refuses to value bet me. Re: AA with a paired flop
That's a great board for AA, not co-ordinated for straights or flushes, and the two sixes keep a KJ hand from beating you. Pocket twos fold to the flop bet, and KK or JJ raise preflop, before it gets to the button. So you run into a perfect storm, and one of two sixes lands in the hand of a calling station . . . but they don't reraise you at any point? Love thy game.
