Re: The hypocrisy of Israel\'s human shield claims
[ QUOTE ]
Therefore, one could argue that millions of Lebanese are being displaced as a result of the action (or inaction) of their own government. [/ QUOTE ] Oh give me a break already. |

[/ QUOTE ] solid reasoning, as always (well, as "always" as one can be with 19 posts in a gimmick account). Banned under another one, eh? |

[/ QUOTE ] This isn't a Kit Kat commercial. If you're going to bring up a point, be prepared to argue its validity. I'm breaking it down to very simple, not didactic, terms. Can one not make the argument that the apathy of the Lebanese government could be the catalyst for the displacement of its own citizens? |

Re: The hypocrisy of Israel\'s human shield claims
"then assume the same question is posed to Israelis but replace Hezbollah with "Israeli soldiers" and Lebanon as "Israel"."
There are Zionist extremists who would would be happy to press the "kill everybody else" button. I think to be fair, you should ask the question: how many Lebanese would be willing to kill all Israelis and vice versa. One of the fruits of this war will be a new generation of people willing to push to the button. |

"intentional impotence" comes much closer. |

There are even "Zionist" extremists who believe the state of Israel should be abolished because the land is meant to be delivered by the messiah, not guerilla warfare. Fortunately, there are virtually no active Israeli groups that violently promote these ideological ends and are de facto non-threatening in that sense. The sense in which they are threatening is when those who want the land of Israel expanded viciously promote their ideologies through political means. Thats just one of the unfortunate failures of central government based on democracy. |

Rule Goldberg
[ QUOTE ]
What exactly is Israel doing to "millions" of civilians? One could just as effectively argue that their own government is doing this to them. [/ QUOTE ]You mean, the displaced civilians must blame the Lebanese government for what the Israelis are doing to them on account of the Hezbollah attackins the Israelis ? This is sadder than a Rube Goldberg. |
