Don't wax your car that much. It will affect the paint and clear coat. Go with a touch up spray. Here is a great post (different forum site) about washing your car. http://www.acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=273425

Thanks for the tip on the polymer spray, but I don't think I'll be following that dude's routine. If it takes you three days to wash and polish your car, YSSCKY.

i haven't washed my car since i got it...two years ago. why bother? who are you trying to impress? other cars on the road?

As guids pointed out, if you live in an area where it snows washing is a must or all the salt will eat away at your car.

OP,

You sound like my dad, he is a clean freak and washes his car at least twice a week. His last vehicle stayed rust free, here in Minnesota that is amazing, for 10 years so it must not hurt the car too much.

Wax attracts dirt.

Put some of your car wax on a wall. Throw dirt at the wall. Where does the dirt stick? To the wax.

While wax will make your car shiny, it also attracts dirt.

Use something that will bond to the paint of the car and NOT attract dirt while at the same time make your car look shiny.

Something like Zaino is great.

About to make another post about this... WTF do real estate agents do that they feel they deserve 3% of a $500,000 sale?

quote- "Also FWIW I actually enjoy washing and waxing it; it's blazing [censored] hot out so it seems to be a pretty good workout polishing the thing. I just kind of zone out and don't have to think about anything. I'm just worried about the paint. "
