Re: Israeli Ambassador Implies All Muslims Are Terrorists
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] Quote: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Pretty much every major world religion has done this except Judaism and Buddhism. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Israelites never gave non believers an option. They skipped that part and just murdered them. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- When was this? [/ QUOTE ] The Bible [/ QUOTE ] Charles Smith's book on the Arab Israeli conflict cites instances of large-ish scale forced conversion to Judaism during ancient Israeli times. As I understand it, the more general lack of interest in coverting people to Judaism dates from a Roman ban on Jewish proseltysing, although having very littel knowledge of ancient times I may be wrong and would be interested to hear more on the topic. |

Re: Israeli Ambassador Implies All Muslims Are Terrorists
They do it on purpose. Much like Bush always refering to the leader of Iraq as a misprounced "Saddam", never Saddam Hussein, or President Hussein, just plain Saddam.
Similar if a leader of some a country would start refering to him as "Dubya". Of course, then you would have to have all the press and media picking up on it. Try to find a recent article about Iraq with President Hussein in it, it is always Saddam. |

It's like they don't have the biggest foreign service ihe world to advise them. |

Re: Swifty
[ QUOTE ]
[ [/ QUOTE ]Generally, I agree. Nonetheless, the way to deal with militant extremism, as the British masters of colonialism would tell you, is on two fronts: first, to contain and confront extremism militarily, and second, to prevent it from extending its popularity. The second is as important as the first. Israel is scoring victories on the first; the West is losing the war in the second. The sooner the Middle East is peaceful, the sooner we will get rid of Islamic fundamentalism. (Possibly, itg will drop off as swiftly as the collapse of the Soviet bloc.) [/ QUOTE ] But do you think that the West is truly capable of winning the psychological war of containing growth? I believe that the West is nearly powerless in this area. It's going to have to be Muslim Arabs or Persians, condemning terrorists, and squashing the movements. Until then, I believe the only option is to go at choice 1 fullthrottle, and hope that progressiveness eventually wins out. |

Small timers
[ QUOTE ]
Do you think that the West is truly capable of winning the psychological war of containing growth? [/ QUOTE ] Of course. But it takes more brains and determination and something better than the current crop of small timers masquerading as leaders of the free world. They are blatantly incapable of the grand geste or of taking in the overall scheme of things. |
